One Arrow First Nation on October 13, 2020, entered an Solid Waste Management Strategy with a vision to reduce and manage solid waste going to landfills using a practical, sustainable and integrated waste management system that protects the environment and promotes economic development and innovation. One Arrow First Nation has started a Compost Pilot Project (2022) The project is currently starting with education/curriculum for core grades 4 – 8. The curriculum will follow Land Base Learning and Environmental Management thru classroom and compost project goals. The curriculum with be introduced into classrooms by the beginning of school 2023/24. Long term planning to creating future stewards of land management and short term is to reduce solid waste by 48% by composting, reusing, recycling, and relearning.
