Social Development

The income assistance department of social development is the main function. This is where individuals are assessed for income assistance. This is to be considered short term help until employment can be found.

A brief assessment is completed along with provincial and federal crosschecks. This is to ensure that there is no source of income coming in. A case plan detailing and highlighting the various barriers to employment is identified. This could be lack of education, drivers, vehicle or various health concerns. These are all factors that determine eligibility for income assistance.

If participants are between the ages of 18-30, they are referred to pre-employment support. All others stay on the income assistance workers caseload.
